Countdown begins for The Mummy…

Till date Universal has released two trailers of their upcoming project The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella.

90’s kids like me, who were brought up watching The mummy series played by Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz Dwayne Johnson and these series and the actors was our childhood/teenage spine chilling fantasy as Harry Potter for many other.

Now, you may think that nothing can beat the memory or experience of the mummy we watched while growing up, but the trailer will be able to prove you wrong to some extent. ( or not)

Till now from the released trailers we have known –

Tom Cruise with his fellow companion gets involve some kind of mischievous and nearly fells in to a huge well in a desert with ancient sculpture on it. Now that the survey begins they discover a tomb which is more likely to a prison.

Now furious Nick (Tom),  does something which he was specifically told not to, leaves him chosen by the evil.

Let’s keep aside the story depicted in the trailers for a moment and focus on the music and ambience created by the released. It does not redefine the story of previous mummy. It seems a brand new story of Mummy with brand new actors/characters.

I think Universal has played quite safe about the casting. Tom Cruise – even at his age he can pull off any physical character as he is going to in this film.

Russell Crowe – One of the reasons why I am waiting for the movie to be released.

London –London is getting quite a huge attention in the trailer.

Awesomely beautiful and fierce Sofia Boutella is playing the Mummy. She is rocking character which can be deduced from the glimpse of Mummy in the trailers.

Awesome Egypt and London and No Imhotep like we had in previous series of Universal. Now a Queen turned to be an ultimate evil.  

We still don’t know how long we have to wait as the release date is not aired yet.

Not sure about the whole story but the visual effects seems too great. I know nothing can beat The Mummy series we’ve grown up watching, but this can worth a watch.

Let’s wait for future trailer release and release of the movie.
