The Giver - Movie Review.
Going to play honest here! I haven’t read any books of Lois Lowry. I know, that’s
an odd thing to say. Sorry. (That kinda
rimes!!)
So if you are a huge fan of Lois Lowry and have read
Giver from “The Giver Quartet”, this review won’t help you. Probably you will
find it not up to the mark.
Yes,this review is for those who haven’t read the book. Time to
take you to the ride, hop in!
The concept of the story is bit unconventional. It is not
new to those who have read it.
So how this world would be without
memory-pain-love-affection-jealousy-harmful words-music-fun-laughter-family-animals(except
human)-spirit-colour-fondness-warmth-WAR?
Only equality, peace, only monochrome with no memory of
past. No nothing to haunt you. Sounds great right? We would love to live in a
world where No need to think what to wear tomorrow, which colour suits the
occasion? Which subject to take as major, which profession to choose? With no
worries about sickness or spending money on mediclaims. Sounds interesting! Who
wouldn’t will love to live on an earth
like this!
Directed by Phillip Noyce, this film surely takes you
to a stage where you at some point will ask yourself “what do we want? ” or
better question “what do we need?”
A world – seemingly ideal with no pain and suffering, where
everything is defined by the elders and only one person with the memories of past
of the real world or the world used be. Heknows love-pain-colour-music-dance
more over what a real life means/ what life means and what it used to be. He is
the “Giver of memory”. Now Jonas being a “receiver of memory” realizes he must
escape from their world and find a way to protect everyone he loves – a challenged
which no one has accomplished till date.
Allover the sci-fi-romantic-fantasy drama goes well but
some deep digging was missing -
What actually made Jonas’s friend , Asher, help Jonas when he was so opposing of Jonas.
How ? I seriously mean how come with no stets of trace
of love, a friendship turned out to be love story?
Okay move on to the acting –
Taylor Swift – Honey! Kindly stick only to the signing…
Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep – Take a BOW. They are
the one who holds the movie to the flow and entertainment.
Brenton Thwaites – Great job. Truly entertaining acting
skill he has got.
Sooner or later this guy is going to be heartthrob to
the universe. He raised the hope for his character in upcoming film Pirates ofCaribbean 5.
Odeya Rush – This teen will catch your eyes and heart
with her innocence look/acting.
Katie Holmes – Her expressions! Living prove that one can carry out the character by killing expression.
Alexander Skarsgard -
From the” Battleship” and “The legend of Tarzan”, the son of StellanSkarsgard has rocked throughout the movie; with his charming look, handsome appearance
with the flawless acting which his role needed.
Must mention that, the way it has mentioned ‘aarti on
River Ganges’ as religion is the one of many awesome things that this film has
to offer.
Depiction of spirit will give you goosebumps and will
make you fill with energy and spirit as well.
A film worth to give it a watch in its unconventional
way.
A good review and keep it up.
